Chapter 2 of 13 · Penalty points · Calculator
How many points, and when do they go?
Checked 15 Oct 2026the Road Traffic Act 2002 (as amended).
Points run for 3 years from the date they are endorsed, and a disqualification of 6 months follows when the total within any 3-year period reaches 12, or 7 for a learner or novice. Enter the points you already have and the offence on the notice, and see the total on each route and the date each block leaves the record.
Your licence and the notice
What points do you have, and what is on the notice?
Points already on your record, as blocks from each notice of endorsement (up to 6)
The date on the notice of endorsement from the RSA, or the date your NDLS record shows. Leave the blocks empty if you have no points.
The figures are the points the Act attaches to the offence and the arithmetic of the three-year window on the dates you enter. The tool does not read your record, does not know the endorsement dates the RSA holds, and does not decide whether you are disqualified.
